If you are looking to become a Mortgage Consultant, then your income potential is unlimited. Mortgage brokers are currently arranging around two thirds of the total number of mortgages completed in the UK in 2006-07. This figure is steadily rising year on year. 

There are a number of reasons for this. The complexity of the mortgage industry in the UK ensures that there is a bewildering array of products and schemes that are available to the customer. Quite simply, they are not able to make an informed choice as to which is the most suitable for their needs and circumstances - you as a mortgage professional are.

Secondly, people today either don’t have the time or are not prepared to spend two or three weeks trying to find out what the best deal is. You as a mortgage professional are able to do that far more effectively.

As a self employed mortgage consultant, your income potential is UNLIMITED. If you arrange two mortgages per week, you are probably looking at earnings around the £100,000 mark. Many, many mortgage brokers are earning more than that.

Furthermore, the industry is often regarded as recession proof. The reason for this is that when interest rates are low people are often looking to re-mortgage to release equity in their homes to pay off debts or to raise capital. They may also be looking to buy a property that they are looking to rent out. Alternatively, when interest rates are climbing they may be looking to re-mortgage to get on the lowest rate they can possibly get or to re-mortgage onto a fixed rate mortgage. Either way, you win!!!
