The benefits of further education

Once you leave school you may think that your learning days are over, with no more revising for exams and studying late into the night. However, some careers require extra study, so that you can take on specific job roles.

Learning can help you to achieve your career goals, and gain a position in a company of your choice. Employers recognise the hard work put in by those studying for extra qualifications, whether it’s at university or other establishment. For instance, someone studying for the CeMAP qualification may choose to study at a CeMAP training company so that they can be sure they are gaining the best advice.

By continuing to learn throughout your life, you will be better prepared for the ever changing world of work. Throughout your lifetime there will be many changes and very often it is necessary to study so that you can learn new skills. Studies have also shown that learning can help reduce the risk of developing dementia or Alzheimer’s disease than those who don’t learn new things.

Continuing to learn after you leave full time education will improve your confidence and self-esteem, while boosting morale. If you want to work in a specific industry, learning new skills may help you to find a suitable role in that particular sector.

Above all else, learning gives you choice; to be able to choose the type of work you do and where you work. Research also indicates that people who have more qualifications are generally paid more than those without formal learning.
