Exam tips for success

When it comes revising for exams and performing your best on the day you need to work smarter, not harder. Filling your days with stress and work won’t be conducive to success when it comes time to take your CeMAP exam. You need to balance your revision time with time for yourself, take it all in moderation and you’ll perform better on the day.

Here are some tips to ensure that when you come to take your CeMAP exam you perform at the best of your abilities and don’t let all of the study you’ve done go to waste.

The most important thing to remember is to balance your time. When you set aside revision time, putting it off and watching TV for three hours isn’t going to help your cause. However taking a 20 minute break and going for a walk, spending 10 minutes talking to a friend on the phone will help.

If you take regular short breaks in this manner you’ll find it easier to maintain your concentration over the whole revision process. Balance work with play and make time for both.

Another tip would be to grab short spells of revision time as and when you can, for example before work or during your lunch. You won’t feel like doing it at the time, but once you’ve managed to fit in 30 minutes revision during your lunch you’ll feel much better about it for the rest of the day.

If you do manage an extra half an hour a day during work, you’ll be getting an extra 2 ½ hours per week revision!

Finally remember to take time off during revision. If you fill all of your days with revision you’ll find it hard to concentrate and won’t absorb as much information. Take half a day off, or even a whole day, and do something you enjoy. Go to a concert, a football match or just out with friends. Then you’ll come back the next day refreshed and ready to start anew.
