Advice & Tips
Building a career is the ultimate goal of most people, although in today’s economy it can be challenging to find work in any sector. That’s why you have to
be proactive to make sure you end up with the career you want. There are many actions you can do to ensure you can work in your chosen field.
Make sure your CV is up-to-date with all the work and experience you have had up to the current time. Include any volunteering experience which may be relevant. While you are looking for work, be on the lookout for any opportunities which may enhance your skills and experience, and remember to enter it on your CV.
If there are any presentations taking place related to your chosen career path, make sure you sign up for them and go along. Attending events and reading about the industry you would like to work in will increase your knowledge of the sector and what is involved in that type of career.
Never stop learning and if you have a particular sector in mind, apply for training events which are closely related to that career path. If you are working in your chosen career but you want to progress further, relevant training can help you to develop your skills so that you can apply for that promotion. For instance, if you would like to be able to assist people who are looking for a new home and need mortgage advice, consider taking a CeMAP Course.
Improving career prospects will result in a more fulfilling role with greater rewards.
