Website unbiased.co.uk has unveiled a Mortgage Approval Confidence Index, which shows that as many as one in three potential borrowers worry and become anxious that their application will not be approved first time.
The index also suggested that as many as 38% of first-time buyers are uncertain about whether they will be able to buy their dream home. However, around a third of all borrowers still fail to take any steps that may improve their chances of approval.
One in five will proactively seek the advice of financial advisors – who are generally independent and able to advise on a wider spectrum of the mortgage market – feeling that this will better their chances of acceptance. Yet, it is actually around one in five applications that are approved in the first instance.
The chief executive of unbiased.co.uk, Karen Barrett, said:
“Getting professional mortgage advice can make a huge difference to the process – from finding the best deal for your individual circumstances to planning specific steps to make you a more attractive candidate to a lender.”
She added that applicants can draw confidence from speaking with a qualified expert.
