When you are studying for exams, it can be difficult to knuckle down and do all the work required for impending tests, especially if some aspects of the course are hard going or you are tired. This may lead to you being distracted. Procrastination isn’t always a bad thing, especially if you complete some essential reading or emails, but eventually you have to tackle your textbooks. If you are studying in a subject that you enjoy, like a CeMAP course, you will be less likely to procrastinate.


Prioritise your study so that you complete one small step at a time. Plan so that you aren’t cramming all your study in at once, and have time for relaxation. Consider tackling larger study tasks first so that you can enjoy some free time doing something you enjoy.


Organise your study into small steps. Although there may be some aspects of the course that you have to complete before others, you may be able to study other sections in any order. Being able to study in any order is less likely to result in procrastination, as you aren’t forced to study something that you don’t enjoy. You can use this method to timetable study for the most suitable times of day.

Divide and conquer

Divide your study so that you have a set amount each day. Then, divide your day into sections, so that you enjoy some free time too. You are less likely to procrastinate if you know that you can relax when you have completed that section of work.
