Commercial lending guide published by InterBay

July 28, 2026 by Brendan O'Neill

Specialist commercial lender InterBay has announced the launch of a new guide to the subject targeted at mortgage advisors.

The lender’s guide is named ‘Diversify the InterBay Way’ and it provides useful commercial lending information. Among topics covered in the guide are how to submit a commercial mortgage application to InterBay; how to value a commercial property; what is involved in the underwriting process; and the correct terminology to use. InterBay is stating that it is aimed at advisors who want to add commercial lending to their revenue streams but need to learn more about it first.

It has also stated that many mortgage advisors are finding that more of their clients are keen to buy commercial properties, but they lack the experience to offer advice. It says this guide will teach them what they need to know to be able to branch out.

Marc Callaghan works at InterBay as its commercial mortgages head. He told Mortgage Introducer that a lot of advisors work with people for whom commercial mortgages could be useful.

He then said that those advisors might not feel sure they are qualified to assist, but that ‘Diversify the InterBay Way’ shows that commercial lending does not need to be hard.

Callaghan added:

“Whether it’s a landlord considering a mixed-use property, a business owner looking to purchase their premises, or an experienced investor expanding into new sectors, there are opportunities for brokers to deepen client relationships and grow their business.”

This may be a useful follow-up to a CeMAP course for experienced advisors interested in this area.
