Ecology Building Society has become the latest lender to join the Simplybiz panel, which means that mortgage advisors will be able to get access to its green mortgage slate.
Among the loans that advisors members of the Simplybiz club will get access to are ones for retrofits, conversions, eco-refurbishments and homes with energy efficiency certification. That last one could be particularly useful for those advisors and their clients, due to the C-Change discount. This is a mortgage rate reduction offer that Ecology BS provides for borrowers who have worked to enhance the energy efficiency of their properties. The more they enhance it, the higher the discount they can claim.
Daniel Capstick works for Ecology BS as its senior propositions and mortgages product manager. Speaking to Mortgage Finance Gazette, he said that the company’s MO was to help borrowers who are committed to benefiting society and the environment.
Capstick then went on to say that the number of people who own their homes and who want to lead a more sustainable lifestyle is on the rise. He added:
“As specialists in ethical finance for more than 40 years, our team has extensive knowledge to support Simplybiz Mortgages’ member firms and their clients, whether that’s for complex cases, non-standard construction or energy-efficient self-builds.”
He concluded by saying that the company has further exciting projects in the pipeline, such as a system for originating mortgage applications that is soon to launch.
This is welcome news for anyone with CeMAP mortgage advisor training, because green mortgages are of growing importance.
