Edinburgh and Croydon receive more interest from buyers

A recent study by Zoopla has revealed that Croydon and Edinburgh are getting more interest from buyers than other regions of the UK. It also revealed that buyers are most likely to search for the term ‘garage’ when looking for a property in six out of the 10 most popular regions.

Homes in Edinburgh attracted 145% more interest than the average house listing from buyers during the last year. Homes for sale in Croydon received a 104% higher rate of clicks than other regions in the UK.

Zoopla looked at the areas of the UK where properties have the highest demand. The company also looked at the features of a property which buyers were most likely to look for. Lawrence Hall, the spokesperson for Zoopla, stated that the increased interest in properties in London may be due to a slow down in the property market, as house prices have fallen for the third consecutive month. It may also be due to demand for properties in central London cooling off.

The term ‘garage’ is the keyword which is most frequently searched for. A survey by the RAC found that garages were not used to park cars in by almost 50% of respondents. The owners are more likely to use their garage to store gardening equipment, gym, sports and DIY equipment. The region where property has the least demand is the north east, where there is 51% less than the average search.

Mortgage advisors take part in CeMAP training courses, so that they are able to advise buyers who may be searching for a mortgage with particular features, such as being able to overpay on a regular basis.
