Mortgage advisor ex-Apprentice star charged with fraud

Those watching this year’s Apprentice will recognise Christopher Farrell, the mortgage advisor and ex-Royal Marine. Reports state Farrell has been charged with four counts of mortgage-related fraud.

Fired two weeks ago in Week 8 of the 2010 Lord Alan Sugar’s televised contest, which was filmed in August 2009, Farrell was arrested in August this year before this year’s BBC1 series went on air.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, police have now charged Farrell with four counts of fraud by false representation.

The 29 year old mortgage broker is from the Wirral in Merseyside and is set to appear before Plymouth magistrates on the 20th December.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “Christopher John Farrell, 29, and from The Wirral, Merseyside has been charged with four counts of fraud by false representation and bailed to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on December 22 2010.”

In The Apprentice television profile Farrell reportedly ‘likes to be pushed’ and claims to show little or no emotion. For his profile, Farrell also reportedly told BBC chiefs:

‘I’ve been to the other side of things where friends lose legs, lose limbs, so I know I’m lucky to be where I am. I was a sniper in the Royal Marines and I take that killer instinct across into business.’

The counts of false representation are that Farrell allegedly falsified P60s and payslips to enable his clients to pass mortgage applications more easily. After Farrell left the police station, the Daily Mail report stated Farrell was unavailable for comment.
