How to move home without the stress

Moving to a new home is an exhausting event, especially if you have a family and/or pets to consider, but there are some things you can do to make the move a lot easier and much less stressful for all concerned.
Plan carefully ahead of time, so that everything is organised ready for the big day. Initially, plan for the costs so that you can stick to a budget. You will have to pay for a removal company and possibly storage, so check out the removal companies. You may also have other expenses like stamp duty or legal fees to consider. Planning ahead will reduce the worry of unexpected expenditure.
Three weeks before you are due to move, let all friends and family members know your new address. Also notify the utility companies, your bank and anyone else who will need to know you are moving. Cancel any deliveries, like the newspaper or milk. You could also check that there will be sufficient parking at the new address for your car and the removal van, so that unpacking can go smoothly.
Declutter your home so that you are only paying the removal company to take the items you need in the new house. Empty cupboards and drawers of anything you don’t need. You could also start to pack up nonessentials so that they are ready to be moved. Clearly mark each box with the room it belongs in so that the removal company can place boxes in the correct room.
