The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) has announced its latest planned challenge to raise funding and awareness, which will take the form of a walk through London.
The organisation is planning a walk between Putney and Southwark, which is a distance of 25 km. This will take those who participate in it along a route that runs by the side of the Thames. This means they will be able to enjoy views of the city’s famous skyline.
In addition to that walk, MIMHC is also providing a shorter route for people who want to take part, but who cannot manage 25 km. This will be 10 km and will start at the Kia Oval, before finishing at Southwark.
What lies behind this project is the desire to raise money for charity and awareness of mental health issues. The charity that will benefit from it is the Niall Stringer Foundation. This encourages mental wellbeing and health through the provision of sports clubs for young people.
MIMHC is calling its latest event The Thames Bridges Trek. It will mark the second event of 2025, with the first one having been named Walk and Talk. That took place during May, and it raised a total of more than £15,000.
The Thames Bridges Trek will be held on 13 September. A number of top lenders have already signed up, including Positive Lending, MFS, MT Finance, Brightstar and Sirius Finance.
This is something that may interest mortgage advisors who have done the CeMAP course, because mental health issues can affect anyone.
