Research shows majority of homeowners wary of AI advisors

The latest research has found that the majority of people in the UK who own a home would not be comfortable using a mortgage advisor powered by artificial intelligence.

This research was carried out by Boon Brokers and it revealed a clear preference for talking to a qualified human mortgage advisor. In total, 83.37% of those who took part in the survey stated that they would be dubious of the guidance offered by an AI advisor. That means only 13.6% of UK homeowners would be comfortable taking advice from an AI-powered advisor.

Other results from the survey include the fact that 27.8% of the respondents indicated that they would not consider using an AI advisor under any circumstances. The overwhelming majority – 92.8% to be precise – told Boon Brokers they felt AI advisors would be more liable to make mistakes than human ones.

A further 89.5% stated that they would act on the recommendations of an AI mortgage advisor, but only if a human one reviewed them first. The survey did reveal some differences based on age though.

The numbers that did not trust AI advisors were much higher when it comes to those over 50. Younger members of the public were more open to the idea, but a significant percentage still favour human beings. That was true of 56.9% of 18-24 year olds and 50.2% of 25-34 year olds.

What these figures reveal is that the demand for CeMAP mortgage advisor training should remain very high for a long time to come.
