The Green Finance Institute (GFI) is launching a new campaign to raise awareness among the general public about green mortgages, and it has now chosen the individual to lead it.
Chloe Timperley is the woman who has been appointed to head up this campaign. She will be working side by side with both environmental and mortgage sector partners to grow the market for green mortgages. She will also be playing a central role in the overriding project of the GFI to remove carbons from the built environment.
She will accomplish that latter task by seeing through development of its Certificate in Green Mortgages. This is awarded to professionals within the mortgage industry after they have undergone training to learn about the different environmentally friendly financial solutions that are available.
The GFI introduced this certificate earlier in the year. The intention is to provide mortgage advisors and other such professionals with all of the knowledge they need to explain green mortgages to their clients, as well as convincing them of the benefits.
Timperley spoke to Financial Reporter about her appointment, saying:
“The mortgage industry has a key role to play in decarbonising the UK housing stock, and I’m thrilled to carry this work forward as green mortgage campaign lead, as we work to decarbonise the built environment at pace and scale.”
Before taking up this position, she worked for the AMI in a diversity and inclusion role.
This will be of interest to most advisors with the CeMAP qualification, as green mortgages are seen by many to be vital to the future.
