Poll shows advisors hopeful concerning consumer confidence

April 24, 2024 by Brendan O'Neill

A new survey of mortgage advisors throughout the UK has found that more than 80% of them are anticipating a rise in the confidence levels among the public during this year.

The survey was conducted by Primis and reveals that close to 82% of advisors feel this way – which is four out of every five that were polled. The region of the UK where the highest percentage of mortgage advisors expressed the belief that customer confidence will go up is Scotland. 88% of the advisors in that part of the country indicated that this is what they expect.

By contrast, among advisors in Northern Ireland, the perspective is less optimistic. Nearly 78% of those surveyed by Primis said that they remain concerned about the impact of the cost of living crisis and the overall economy on public confidence.

Talking to Mortgage Solutions, the Primis sales director Claire Madge stated that:

“It’s been a tough few years for British households, but it looks like the pinch of higher food prices, energy costs, rents and mortgage payments is beginning to lessen.”

She then went on to add that advisors have a clear view of what prospective buyers feel about their financial situations. Madge argued that the likelihood of an election at some point during this year may have people starting to feel more positive about their futures.

The results of this survey are encouraging, and they show why so many people are still choosing to take CeMAP training courses to qualify as mortgage advisors.
