Snack your way to study success

When taking on the commitment of passing an exam such as the CeMAP, in order to progress a career within the mortgage industry, you need to ensure that you maximise the nutritional content that your body gets. Doing so will help to keep your mind sharp and focussed on its studies.

Whilst it is important to exercise portion control and not over indulge, including healthy snacks throughout the day can be a great way to maintain stable blood sugar levels, meaning that you can concentrate properly.

Having worked out your study plan, make sure that you have stocked up on supplies, such as the following:


Fruit is a cost-effective snack that is stacked full of vitamins, calcium and potassium. Opt for things like apples and oranges, which contain healthy carbohydrates, as well as fibre-rich bananas. Also include superfoods such as blueberries, which have been found to hinder memory loss and support learning capacity.

Often mistaken as a vegetable, avocados are an excellent source of vitamin E and mono-saturated fats, which are known to help lower blood pressure.


Another great way to absorb vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates is eating your vegetables. Include carrot sticks and green produce such as broccoli, peas and leafy veg, which are bursting with antioxidants.

For a snack on the go, try roasting chick peas in the oven with a sprinkling of salt and chilli powder, which can be a great substitute for unhealthier crunchy foods, such as crisps.


Meanwhile, peanuts are a particularly great source of protein. They are brimming with healthy fats, which can help you to feel fuller for longer. Almonds are also a perfect study snack, when eaten in moderation

Dairy products

Items such as Greek yoghurt are great at providing protein with lower levels of sugar, which again helps to fill you up for longer. Cheese is another food that can prove to be a pleasant snack, as the savoury item often satisfies sweet or salty cravings. Finally, eggs are a quick and easy way to get a protein fix that can enhance your brain function.

Dark chocolate

We often think that chocolate would not be a healthy snack choice. However, if you opt for the dark variety, you will receive antioxidants, while it also stimulates the release of endorphins that can support your mood as you work your way through your study plan.

It is all about moderation, but making sure that you keep your body and mind sufficiently fuelled is vital to ensuring exam success.
