Barclays has introduced a new remortgage service that is intended to make the process simpler and speedier.
It is calling the service Fast-Track Remortgage and it will launch this month. Barclays is claiming that people who meet the eligibility criteria will be able to get a remortgage offer inside a single day. It states that actual completions under the scheme will take around five days.
The research would certainly seem to suggest that it is responding to a genuine need. Those with mortgages who chose to remortgage with a different lender are two times as liable to say that the process was hard. A percentage of 20% of those remortgage customers said that, whereas the figure for those who stuck with the same lender was just 10%.
One of the difficult aspects of remortgaging with a new lender that borrowers have cited is low long it takes. The number of them who got an offer inside one day was just 10%. Meanwhile, among people who opted to remortgage with their current lender, it was 33%.
When they were asked what they would like to see done to improve the situation, 23% said that it should be made simpler and faster. Another 18% argued that reducing the amount of paperwork involved would be the ideal change.
Jatin Patel is employed by Barclays as its head of mortgages. He told Financial Reporter:
“Fast-Track Remortgage has been designed to streamline switching into Barclays, removing obstacles to finding the best option for your circumstances.”
Mortgage advisors with CeMAP training will also welcome a simpler remortgage process.
