Selling your home is a stressful process, as you try to settle on the most appropriate sale price and make sure that it is attractive to potential buyers. There are some actions you can take to speed up the process of selling your home.
Make sure that your home is clean and tidy, with all rooms ready to be inspected by potential buyers. Most people have a room or cupboard which they use to store possessions or family mementos. Clear this out so that buyers don’t find it. Once the clutter has been cleared, have fresh bedding on all the beds and light a scented candle so that your home smells welcoming to visitors.
Although most people have personal items around their home, don’t forget to remove them so that buyers can imagine their own possessions in there. Photographs and other items should be stored out of view when people are viewing the property.
If you have any bright, unusual colour schemes in your home, consider re-painting with neutral colours so that prospective buyers aren’t put off. Neutral colour schemes help buyers to decide how they would like the house to look.
If you have any smaller features in the home which are tired and worn, consider replacing them. Old cushions, worn out door handles and dripping taps will all be noticed by buyers. Placing mirrors around the house will make spaces seem much larger than they actually are.
Consult with a CeMAP trained mortgage adviser prior to selling your home, especially if you require a mortgage to buy your next home.
