Buyer enquiries rise again following dip

The number of enquiries from potential homebuyers is on the rise again in June, after the previous month saw a drop in demand.

Figures released by Rightmove showed a drop of 8% in demand among buyers during the second half of May. This coincided with very high temperatures across the UK and half-term school holidays, both of which Rightmove cites as contributory factors. This analysis is supported by the fact that enquiries started to rise again in June, when heat levels returned to normal.

The figures reveal that the number of property enquiries began to increase from the first day of June. By the 6th of the month, they had risen higher than they were before the May heatwave.

Rightmove states that buyer enquiry levels are lower than they were in June 2025, but have recovered from the late-May lull. This brings them back to a level that matches general trends for the current year.

Colleen Babcock works for Rightmove as a property expert. Speaking to Mortgage Introducer, Babcock said that temporary events in the real world – like holidays or periods of hot weather – can often affect demand. She then went on to add:

“What’s more telling is how quickly demand tends to bounce back, as we’re now seeing, with underlying market activity remaining consistent with what we’ve seen in 2026 so far.”

This rapid recovery shows that it remains an excellent time to take a CeMAP training course. Mortgage advisors are as in demand as ever.
