July brought rise in searches for remortgage products

August 18, 2026 by Brendan O'Neill

Twenty7tec has revealed the number of searches for remortgage products rose during July.

Its latest data shows that mortgage advisors conducted 700,628 searches for remortgage loans throughout the month. This represents a rise of 7% in comparison with June, and 5% compared with July 2025. It reflects the fact that a lot of borrowers are coming to the close of fixed-rate mortgage deals and facing the prospect of steep hikes in their payments. This is leading advisors to search for alternative products or lenders that can offer a better rate.

The total number of searches in July using the Twenty7tec platform was 1,790,196. This marked a slight increase of 1% compared with the month before and was roughly the same as for July of last year. However, not all products saw rising search numbers.

Searches for first-time buyer products and residential ones both declined in July. The former dropped by 4% and the latter by 3%, in comparison with June. This is down to the usual slowing of activity during the summer and affordability issues.

Nakita Moss is the head of lender at Twenty7tec. Speaking to Mortgage Strategy, she said:

“Total search activity edged up by 1% compared with June and remained broadly in line with the same month last year, showing advisors and borrowers continue to engage despite ongoing economic uncertainty.”

Talking to someone who has done the CeMAP mortgage advisor course is advisable if you are near the end of a fixed deal. They are more likely to find an affordable alternative.
