Post-stamp duty deadline mortgage introduced by Skipton BS

March 28, 2025 by Mark

Skipton Building Society has announced that it is introducing a brand new range of mortgages that will be targeted at borrowers who miss the deadline for stamp duty relief.

That deadline is currently looming over the UK mortgage market, with both borrowers and advisors doing everything they can to get deals over the line ahead of it. The deadline is March 31. However, this announcement by Skipton BS could give some hope to those who are not fortunate enough to do so.

The lender has indicated that the number of people attempting to get deals completed is much higher than it was for the same month last year. Skipton BS has seen a rise of 54%, which is being largely attributed to the stamp duty deadline. No less than half of those borrowers are people buying for the first time.

The range that Skipton BS is introducing to help them is a fixed five-year one. The maximum LTV available will be 95%, while there will be potential cash back of as much as 1.50%. The range also comes with stamp duty completion guarantee. Skipton BS has confirmed it will guarantee completion before the deadline for every certificate that was completed by March 25.

Charlotte Harrison from Skipton said that they would do all they could to support first-time buyers.

This is good news, as not even all mortgage advisors with CeMAP training working flat out can enable every borrower to meet the deadline.
