Simplybiz Mortgages and Air to offer later life training

May 26, 2026 by Brendan O'Neill

Simplybiz Mortgages has announced that it is joining forces with the later life platform Air to train its advisors in that part of the market.

This development and training will only be available to mortgage advisors who are Simplybiz members. The hope is that it will equip them with all of the necessary practice tools, confidence and skills to successfully broach the subject with customers. All types of later life lending will be covered by the training, from retirement interest-only (RIO) and standard loans to equity release.

The training programme is not intended as an alternative to the CeMAP course, but as a complement. Individuals will need to already be qualified mortgage advisors before they can apply for it.

The structure of the training is based on three elements; a workshop where advisors can learn to generate later life leads; support in gaining specialist equity release qualifications; and a One Day Accelerator Programme offered by Air Academy.

Will Hale is the chief executive officer at Air. He told Mortgage Finance Gazette:

“This is a landmark, first-of-its-kind partnership for Air, bringing together our full suite of training, accreditation and business support into a single, joined-up programme.”

It is certainly an opportune moment for the training to be announced. The Financial Conduct Authority is currently looking into whether mortgage advisors have the necessary later life lending knowledge to best serve the public in that area.

This course sounds like it will be a valuable follow-up to CeMAP training, just as the CeRER equity release training course is.
